U.S. News & World Report just came out with their Best High School rankings and Ridgefield High School is #5 in CT. MA is home to the largest percentage of schools that earned gold and silver medals from U.S. News, which are awarded based on students' graduation rate, college readiness, and test scores. Five of the top-10 public schools in the Bay State are open-enrollment, while three require students to test-in, and two operate as charter schools that fill seats through a system of applications and lotteries.

Pennsylvania was tied at 14th in the nation - with 15.8 percent of public schools earning a golf or silver medal - while New Jersey came in 17th with 14.8 percent awarded gold or silver.

The first step determines "whether each school's students were performing better than statistically expected for students in the state".

The magnet school was ranked 8 out of 670 public high schools in IL and 261 out of 20,548 public high schools in the country that U.S. News reviewed - good enough for a Gold medal.

Others high schools in northeast Iowa that U.S. News rated as bronze medal winners included: AGWSR in Ackley, Denver, Forest City, Grundy Center, Hampton-Dumont, Iowa Falls-Alden, Jesup, Northwood-Kensett, Oelwein, Osage, South Winneshiek in Calmar, St. Ansgar, Starmont in Arlington, Sumner-Fredricksburg and West Delaware in Manchester.
