Packers not now interested in Dez Bryant

Former Dallas Cowboys tight end and new ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jason Witten said Monday he believes former teammate Dez Bryant will sign with the Green Bay Packers. Witten did say he was mostly guessing, but considering how close Witten is to the situation, his guess is notable.

The star wide receiver was released by the Dallas Cowboys in April after eight seasons in the Lone Star State. Ian Rapoport, a major National Football League insider, said that the Packers are a possible landing spot, but they are not talking to each other yet. "He's motivated and I think he's going to end up going to the Green Bay Packers", Witten told The Adam Schefter Podcast.

Witten believes Bryant is looking for the best chance to win and a quarterback who can drop accurate fade throws, something every Packer fan knows Aaron Rodgers is more than capable of doing.

The Green Bay Packers have been a hot topic over the last few days with Dez Bryant being the primary reason.

Despite receiving a two-year offer from Baltimore, the three-time Pro Bowler passed on the opportunity as he's hoping to ink a lucrative one-year deal to prove himself in 2018 to sign a long-term deal next offseason. "I just think Dez is a smart football player and so he understands how important the quarterback position is", Witten said.

The Packers drafted three wide receivers in the recent NFL Draft though they lack established options with Jordy Nelson released and signing for Oakland Raiders. "You partner him up with Jimmy Graham and Aaron Rodgers, I think that offense can put up a lot of points".

Additionally, receiver-turned running back Ty Montgomery is adept at catching the ball out of the backfield and Rodgers even has another dynamic TE in Lance Kendricks to line up in multiple tight-end sets.

The talented trio of Cobb, Davante Adams, and newcomer Jimmy Graham is a solid group of targets for Rodgers as Green Bay tries to bounce back from missing the playoffs past year.
