Manchester United in advanced talks with Fred

The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports the Red Devils have reached a £50 million deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazil global midfielder Fred.

And the Mirror claim United are ready to wrap-up a £50m deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred before the Brazilian worldwide flies out to the World Cup finals in Russian Federation.

The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder is part of Tite's Brazil squad for the tournament in Russian Federation next month, though first the Selecao will take on Croatia at Anfield on June 3.

According to various sources, Fred's agent, who is Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva, held talks with United last week and now negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Manchester United are close to completing the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian star Fred, as per an exclusive report from Manchester Evening News.

It is suggested City were keen to sign the midfielder still.

They are playing a World Cup warm-up match against Croatia at Anfield on Sunday June 3.

Shakhtar want to cash in on the talented midfielder and United will be happy to have him.

"It's an honour to be on the radar of great European coaches".

The player yesterday spoke openly about the interest in him from Manchester rivals United and City.

It is Napoli's Jorginho who Pep Guardiola made his top target ahead of Fred, leaving United with a clear run at the all-action midfielder, who they have now agreed to sign.

It looks as though Fred will be the next Brazilian off the production line following a successful five-year spell.
