Arbaaz Khan confesses to IPL betting, lost Rs 2.80 crore - reveals police

The police had recently busted a betting ring and had arrested 42-year-old Jalan, who allegedly operated in the country as well as overseas.

Actor-producer Arbaaz Khan, the brother of superstar Salman Khan, was questioned for five hours by the Thane Police in connection with the alleged Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket on Saturday. "We suspect that Arbaaz Khan had placed bets on IPL matches and want to scrutinise his bank transactions", a police official had told PTI.

Khan allegedly lost Rs 2.80 crore in betting to Jalan and was not paying the amount, following which the bookie had threatened the actor, police had said. The electronic equipment used by Jalan had been sent for forensic examination, officers said. The actor was summoned by the Thane Anti-Extortion Cell today for an interrogation.

Previously bookie Sonu was arrested in 2008 for betting on the inaugural season of IPL and then his links to Karachi based mafia don Dawood Ibrahim also got exposed.
