Millie Bobby Brown Leaves Twitter After Becoming a Homophobic Meme

In reality, Brown is an active supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, and an anti-bullying advocate.

Millie Bobby Brown has apparently deleted her Twitter account after being the subject of a series of vile, homophobic memes.

It all began when creators of the memes tweeted out pics of Brown, with text over the photos that featured homophobic statements and slurs, garnering thousands of retweets and likes on the social media site.

Whether it was in response to the actress leaving Twitter or just a lovely coincidence, Netflix released a video today of her co-stars utterly gushing about her. Harassers also used the hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown.

But there are some who say the memes started as an inside joke within the LGBT community.

Warriors stars get up close to roaring crowd during parade
Golden State Warriors center Jordan Bell celebrates with fans during the championship parade in downtown Oakland, California . But Myers walked back his claim at the Warriors championship parade by making an odd joke on stage at Durant's expense.

"People getting mad over the millie bobby brown homophobic meme makes me giggle most of these memes were made by the gays so don't worry, susan!"

Twitter linked numerous memes back to people in the LGBTQ community, further suggesting the posts are dark humor rather than real vitriol. How low-class do you have to be to think using her image as a hate-filled meme is somehow a good idea?

This is far from the first time that similarly hateful activity has forced a star to remove themselves from social media.

The hashtag was created when a fake account falsely claimed that the English actress had "snatched her hijab" at an airport.

Millie is the latest star to leave the social media website after Star Wars stars Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran both deactivated their accounts following constant online abuse.
