Fakhar Zaman becomes fastest batsman to score 1000 ODI runs

Fakhar Zaman, who scored a double century in the last match, became the fastest player in history to reach 1,000 career runs in one-day global cricket as Pakistan amassed 364 for 4.

Pakistan finished their tour of Zimbabwe on a thumping note by thrashing the hosts in the fifth and final ODI to complete a 5-0 whitewash.

The previous record was jointly held by Vivian Richards, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Quinton de Kock and Babar Azam who all reached the milestone in 21 innings.

In the last match, he also became the quickest batsman to get to 1000 ODI runs.

Imam and Zaman continued their prolific run against a weak bowling attack by sharing the fourth century-stand of the series.

Hamilton Masakadza and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe got going with a 66-run opening stand, Zimbabwe´s best of the series, and though Zimbabwe never looked like threatening Pakistan´s total, the middle order did at least hold firm. "Everyone wanted to bat.but at the same time it's really good to see young players performing like this, like Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq have been doing, which is good for the team".

The left-hander's dismissal came after he had been unbeaten for 515 runs in the series, beating Mohammad Yousuf's record of 405 runs set in 2002.

Batsman Imam ul Haq brought another laurel for Pakistan today by becoming first ever batsman in ODIs to score 4 centuries in 10 innings. Only Virat Kohli, who hit 558 for India in South Africa last winter, has scored more. He is now the first batsman to make four ODI centuries inside his first ten matches.

Opener Imam-ul-Haq's good work of making 110 was enriched by Babar Azam in the one down position; he managed a throbbing 106 runs facing just 76 deliveries.

It was a series to remember for the Pakistan opening batsman. He has scored 3 tons, including a double century, and 6 half-centuries.

This win was Pakistan's second-biggest ODI win behind the 255-run win over Ireland in 2015. Prince Masvaure made 39 and Ryan Murray contributed 47 - personal bests for both players in their short careers.
