Ivan Gazidis defends Mezut Ozil over Germany controversy

Mesut Ozil recently announced his decision to retire from worldwide football after he received strong criticism from the Germany football federation after he was pictured with the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Ozil, who has Turkish roots, released a lengthy statement on Sunday saying his treatment made him "no longer want to wear the German national team shirt".

"Mesut has the respect of every player here", said Emery, who was appointed as Arsene Wenger's successor in May.

"Arguably the issue that has frustrated me the most over the past couple of months has been the mistreatment from the DFB, and in particular the DFB President Richard Grindel", he said.

Arsenal open the new Premier League campaign with a home fixture against champions Manchester City on Aug.12. He thinks what is best for him, he explained his decision and here we need to help him.

The 2014 World Cup-winner said he was unfairly maligned over Germany´s group-stage exit in Russian Federation, after some media highlighted a pre-tournament photo with Turkey´s strongman President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

GOP House Members Move To Impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein
At a Congressional hearing last month, Rosenstein responded to charges by Jordan that he was "hiding information from Congress". Eleven House Republicans have introduced articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein .

Ozil has not commented about his decision since his arrival in Singapore on Monday with Arsenal.

When Emery was asked about the player's mental state going into the new season, the coach said: "I'm sure he's going to have a great season with us".

Arsenal will also play Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday in the tournament.

"In the eyes of Grindel and his supporters, I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose".

"It´s something which is unfortunate for him but we will try to do everything so that he feels good, that he trains well so he feels good for the season, because he´s one of the key players".

He has the support from the team and we hope by the start of the season he will be fit and ready to perform for us'.
