Trump receives 'nice' new letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un

As he secured a commitment for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, @POTUS also secured a promise from Chairman Kim to return the remains of all fallen USA service-members lost in North Korea.

Mr. Trump had said after their summit in Singapore with Kim that he would like the leader to come to the White House for a visit.

Trump tweeted early Thursday his thanks to Kim "for your nice letter - I look forward to seeing you soon!" White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the letters addressed their commitment to work toward North Korea's "complete denuclearization".

A Kentucky soldier who went missing in 1950 during the Korean War has been identified by his remains.

The U.S. ambassador also expressed skepticism regarding North Korea's dismantling of the Punggye-ri nuclear test site and the missile site at Tongchang-ri.

Almost 7,700 American military service-people are still unaccounted for from the Korean War, according to the Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, of which approximately 5,300 are thought to be in North Korea. He said during a Tuesday rally in Tampa, Florida, that the USA was "doing well" with North Korea and noted the return of detained Americans and Pyongyang's ceasing of nuclear testing or missile tests.

The remains are being sent to Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency for forensic analysis in order to try to determine their identities.

Trump has sought to show progress from his June 12 summit with Kim in Singapore.

Friday's transfer of the remains on the Korean Peninsula coincided with the 65th anniversary of the 1953 armistice that ended fighting between North Korean and Chinese forces and South Korean and US -led forces under the U.N. Command.

US intelligence agencies are seeing signs of construction of missiles at a factory that produced the country's first intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the United States, The Washington Post reported earlier this week, citing intel sources.

But there are reports North Korea continues to build nuclear missiles.

More than 400 caskets of remains found in North Korea were returned to the United States between the 1990s and 2005, with the bodies of some 330 other Americans also accounted for, according to the DPAA.
