New Possible Clue Emerges In Missing College Student Mollie Tibbetts Case

It was reported early Wednesday that Mollie Tibbetts, who has been missing since July 18, had potentially been seen eight days later at a Kearney truck stop near Interstate 35 and Highway 92.

Authorities say they've followed up on more than 200 leads related to her disappearance.

The day after police in Kearney, Missouri shared information about a possible sighting of missing Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, investigators said it was not her after all.

Yesterday, the reward for information leading to Tibbetts' safe return increased to $30,000.

Authorities are investigating a report that a missing Iowa college student might have been seen in northwest Missouri. She said that it's the family's greatest hope that whoever may have Tibbetts lets her go and claims the "money we have raised for her freedom".

However, police said later Wednesday that the sighting "has been ruled out".

"If someone has abducted her, we are pleading with you to please release her", Calderwood said.

One of the most powerful moments came when Calderwood said she felt her daughter's presence each day. "I don't know that I have the strength in me, and Mollie's lending me her strength".

Investigators have been looking at various data, including social media and information from a Fitbit that Tibbetts is known to have.

Family members have told local news outlets that it would be out of character for Mollie to disappear on her own.

"It certainly helps in that we are able to help establish a timeline and that's certainly critical for any investigation like this", Rahn told ABC News in an interview last week.
