Twitter throws its support behind Derrius Guice following torn ACL

Derrius Guice and Matt Ioannidis both went down with knee injuries, and Trey Quinn left the game early after getting hit hard in the rib area. Quarterbacks that are not protected or given time to operate inside the pocket usually suffer numerous injuries during the grind of an National Football League season.

- Washington Redskins rookie running back Derrius Guice will be sidelined for the 2018 season after suffering an ACL injury during the team's first preseason game Thursday evening, the team announced. He got seven carries in Washington's preseason debut after Kelley and Guice were done for the night, totaling 31 yards. An MRI showed much worse - a torn ACL. He had suffered a hyperextended knee (yes, the same knee) at LSU but opted against surgery, also per Rapoport.

Chris Thompson tweeted that he "had a tough time (trying to) hold back the tears" when he learned about the injury. After providing some fantasy value two seasons ago, he turned in 62 mostly uninspiring carries previous year, running for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2017, Washington was bit pretty hard by the injury bug. He also improved his run grade from 45.3 - the lowest mark among running backs from Weeks 1-10 - to 65.3.
