Trump's Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh rejects 'false accusations'

President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh rejected Monday fresh accusations of sexual assault when he was young and said he would not withdraw from consideration for the high court.

"The truth is I've never sexually assaulted anyone, in high school or otherwise", Kavanaugh said in an interview on Fox News Channel's "The Story with Martha MacCallum", to air on Monday evening.

The new interview with Kavanaugh comes after new accusations surfaced Sunday night from Deborah Ramirez, who in a story published in The New Yorker alleges Kavanaugh exposed himself to her during a drunken party at Yale when both attended college there in the 1980s.

The committee has scheduled a hearing for Thursday to hear from Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, a university professor who last week accused him of sexual assault in 1982. We do not know who leaked this letter to the press, notwithstanding Dr. Ford's request for confidentiality.

Politico reported Friday on Seidman advising Ford, noting that the Democratic operative said, "I believe her, and I think she's very courageous for coming this far".

Dianne Feinstein, on Sunday called for Thursday's hearing to be canceled "in light of a disturbing new allegation of misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh".

Her allegation against the conservative federal appeals court judge has endangered his confirmation by the Republican-led Senate to a lifetime job on the top USA court.

"It is not accurate to say that those who knew him at the time dispute this", Farrow said on ABC. There are 21 members of the Senate Judiciary Committee - 11 conservative Republican men and 10 Democrats. The magazine said that when they initially spoke with Ramirez she was hesitant to confirm that Kavanaugh was involved in the incident noting that there are gaps in her memory of the party due to inebriation.

Iran confirms S. Korea's halt of oil imports
Iran itself faces the prospect of much lower oil exports and output in coming months due to fresh USA sanctions. WTI crude, the benchmark North American contract, was up 1.7 per cent at $72 USA a barrel.

White House spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said after publication of the story: "This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats created to tear down a good man".

Collins said Monday she remained undecided about Kavanaugh.

The statement came after the New Yorker reported late Sunday on a second woman to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual abuse. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the committee, to immediately postpone confirmation proceedings until the FBI could investigate. It's worth noting that neither Ford nor Ramirez claimed any sexual intercourse happened.

Ford claimed that during her high school years, Kavanaugh, along with another Georgetown Prep student at the time, cornered her in a room at a party.

Grassley's spokesman, Taylor Foy, accused Senate Democrats of withholding information on the latest allegation and of seeking a "political takedown" of Kavanaugh.

Stalling Kavanaugh's confirmation vote past October 1 would see the nominee miss the start of the Supreme Court's term; and stalling it past November's midterm elections could give Democrats a fighting chance of taking back a majority in the Senate and shooting it down entirely. Which is to say that if Republicans want to spend this week questioning and even discrediting Ramirez, they have evidence to use to go that route.

Rachel Bloom, writer and star of CW comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, tweeted a photo showing her writing staff wearing black during the walkout.
