Theresa May slams Donald Trump's sanctions on Iran

Rallies replete with "Death to America" chants are staged on the embassy takeover anniversary every year, but US-Iranian rancour is especially strong this year following Trump's decision in May to withdraw the United States from a 2015 worldwide nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions on Tehran.

"It will be hard for Iran to maximise exports when virtually all trade in oil is cleared in USA dollars, putting worldwide oil companies, many national oil companies, traders and banks off limits", said Homayoun Falakshahi from the consultancy Wood Mackenzie.

Iranian oil exports have fallen by about a million barrels a day in that time, though India and China have continued to purchase it.

News of the waivers initially helped lower oil prices early on Monday, since they allow major buyers to import Iran's oil for a while.

Crude exports contribute one-third of Iran's government revenues.

Iranian state television aired footage of air defence systems and anti-aircraft batteries in military manoeuvres across a vast stretch of the country's north.

President Donald Trump announced in May that his administration was withdrawing from what he called the "worst ever" agreement negotiated by the United States.

"We believe that China's normal cooperation (with Iran) within global law is legal and legitimate, and this shall be respected".

While Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga declined to detail any potential sanction waivers, he said his government had asked Washington that sanctions should not have an adverse impact on Japanese companies.

Mohammed bin Salman described Khashoggi as 'dangerous Islamist'
Mr Khashoggi's family vehemently denied that he was in any way risky or a member of the Muslim Brotherhood . Khashoggi disappeared after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October to complete paperwork.

Outlining the scope of the sanctions in Washington, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said more than 700 entities were targeted, many for the first time.

China, India, South Korea, Italy, Greece, Japan and Taiwan are the other countries beside Turkey that received a six-month waiver on the U.S.'s resumed sanctions on Iran, Pompeo said November 5.

"Exempting eight countries from the USA sanctions means Iranian oil will continue to flow and there's no longer risk of a supply shortage", he said.

Mr Trump's administration says it wants a new deal with Iran that curbs its interventions around the Middle East and missile programme - demands that have been flatly rejected by Teheran. Iran denies the allegations.

"Our ultimate aim is to compel Iran to permanently abandon its well-documented outlaw activities and behave as a normal country". Our sanctions don't go into effect until Monday.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps commander added, "Our enemies intend to isolate us like an island but today the page has turned and Americans themselves are being gradually isolated, as even their traditional allies" are distancing themselves from the U.S. President Trump, you've done it again! The others had sanctions that were lifted as part of a nuclear deal world powers struck with Iran reimposed.

"We are in a situation of economic war, confronting a bullying power".

"We are in the economic war situation". "We will take a look at the letter and respond accordingly", he said. "[Iran] wanted to take over the whole Middle East".
