Thousands Protest To Protect Mueller Investigation After DOJ Shakeup

Democrats warned against interference in the probe.

"I'm profoundly concerned about it", he said.

Those opinions have led some leading Democrats, as well as protesters in several cities tonight, to call Whitaker to recuse himself and to protect Robert Mueller.

That's raising questions about the fate of Mueller's investigation.

"All leader McConnell has to do is bring it to the floor for a vote and I think we can lay all this anxiety to rest", King said Thursday.

In April, Pingree co-sponsored House legislation to protect the Mueller investigation by making it more hard for a president to remove a special counsel.

Mitt Romney, the Republican Party's 2012 presidential nominee who won the Utah race on Tuesday to become a U.S. senator, also said Mueller's probe should not be affected by Sessions' dismissal.

Rosenstein has been overseeing the Mueller probe after Sessions recused himself from the investigation, but a Department of Justice spokeswoman said Whitaker would be "in charge of all matters under the purview" of the DOJ.

In the review for TechCrunch , Matthew Panzario writes that iPad Pro nails design with a strong appeal for business customers. Apparently, it so high that you can even skip buying the 15-inch MacBook Pro that came out in July this year.

The Justice Department has declined to answer whether ethics officials have been asked to review if Whitaker should recuse himself from the Mueller probe. He added that it had "been a privilege" to work under Sessions. I'm confident the White House is looking for someone who the President and country can have confidence in, and be confirmed by the Senate. Trump, who denies any collusion, has long complained about the probe, calling it a witch hunt.

The 90-minute presser was a finger-wagging spectacle, with Trump repeatedly berating reporters and the media, and some observers comparing him to a drunk uncle at a wedding party as he rambled incoherently on sundry issues in a spectacle that many fear diminishes the United States. Mueller and Trump's lawyers have negotiated for months about a possible interview, with no agreement in sight. He replaced him- temporarily- with Mathew Whitaker, a loyalist who has criticized the Mueller investigation and wants to strangle it, and who is considered even more of a supplicant than Sessions, whose sycophancy in the face of Trump's fury and humiliating put-downs was not sufficient to save his job. Whitaker, however, has made comments skeptical of the Mueller probe.

In that scenario, Mueller's budget could be reduced "so low that his investigation grinds to nearly a halt", Whitaker said during an interview with CNN in July 2017 before he joined the Justice Department. He also said there was no evidence Russian Federation interfered in the election at all.

Clovis, the 2016 Trump campaign national co-chairman, said in a May radio interview that he has been interviewed by the special counsel's team and had testified before the Mueller grand jury.

Democratic Representative Jerrold Nadler, who is in line to become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee in January, said it is "wholly inappropriate" for Whitaker to take over the Mueller probe and that Rosenstein should continue overseeing it.

After the midterm elections ended on Tuesday, Trump told his embattled Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, to clear out on Wednesday, an action that activists see endangers Mueller's investigation into Russian interference with and secret propaganda during the 2016 presidential election.

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi called it a "blatant attempt" to undermine the Russian Federation probe, while Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer tweeted that "clearly, the president has something to hide".
