Turkish police search villa as part of Khashoggi death probe

The law enforcement agencies later widened the search and investigation to the adjacent villa, it added.

Turkish police officers with a sniffer dog examine outside of a Turkish villa being searched in relation to the Khashoggi killing.

The same three-story villa in Yalova was raided by roughly 40 policemen on October 23 according to the Hurriyet newspaper, after it was discovered that one of the members of the Saudi hit squad who allegedly killed Khashoggi had called the owner of the villa on the day of the murder.

"The chief prosecutor's office believes that this phone call was about disappearing or hiding the body parts of the murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi", the prosecutor said in a statement.

Turkey's steady release of investigative details has kept Saudi Arabia's leaders on the defensive and forced a belated Saudi admission that its agents were responsible for Khashoggi's death.

Saudi prosecutors maintain that the 15-man team sent to Istanbul exceeded its authority when the lead negotiator in the team chose to kill Khashoggi for refusing orders to return.

The police and and the gendarmerie took security measures around the two storey villa in Samanli village of Termal district, according to police sources.
