Manchester United vs. Young Boys - Football Match Report

Jose Mourinho made some odd selection choices against Young Boys, with Fellaini, Nemanja Matic and Phil Jones all starting.

The Red Devils were woeful against Swiss champions Young Boys at Old Trafford, but were spared their blushes by an injury-time victor from Marouane Fellaini.

And Fred was inches away from his second United goal with a rasping drive that rose just over the crossbar in a bright start from the hosts that contrasted sharply to their sluggish form in recent weeks.

Jose Mourinho explains the emotions behind throwing a drinks rack after Manchester United's victor against Young Boys and says he is proud of his side's performance. "I won the Champions League.

For the ones that have a nice life, is different", Mourinho said.

"This is the type of game where if you score in the first minute normally you go for a different kind of performance, but it is still very hard for us to score", responded Mourinho when asked about his exasperated reaction when Rashford missed.

Following a 0-0 home draw against Crystal Palace at the weekend, United will hope they can turn in a better display on the road when they travel to face Southampton on Saturday in Premier League play.

Jose Mourinho reminded his critics of his record in European football after Manchester United scraped past Young Boys to qualify for the Champions League knockout phase.

"In this case, we have the best goalkeeper in the world and I know that he wants to stay".

"Frustration, I was not unhappy with the players, not at all, frustrated we couldn't score, yes, but my players were very exhausted in end and that's what I love, it means they gave everything".

"But, in the end, we score".

Mourinho has made six changes to the team which started the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, with Pogba's omission in favour of Fred the most high profile adjustment. United had 21 shots in total, but it was De Gea who had to make the most important saves.

Yet, after largely dominating the match while being betrayed by a blunt edge up front, Belgian Fellaini turned to shoot home in the 91st minute, despite the ball appearing to come off his hand as he swivelled to strike it.

He also said the man wearing the red shirt was the one who punched Kragthorpe. "I didn't go down, but I clutched over". LSU has stated that Kragthorpe was checked out following the incident and is fine.
