Storm Diana set to bring high winds and heavy rain to Hartlepool

Those same forecasters from the Met Office are predicting the weather front will build over the coming day before reaching us around 9am on Wednesday.

There's more wet and blustery weather on the forecast today with a yellow weather warning in place throughout tomorrow.

Portsmouth City Council said that the event, which was planned to take place from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday evening, had to be called off because of the high winds and rain.

This spreads NE through Ireland and the United Kingdom during Wednesday morning rush hour and further rain hits Northern Ireland and Scotland in the afternoon.

Travel has been disrupted by wet and windy weather, ahead of Storm Diana which is expected to bring severe gales to NI.

On Monday morning the Met Office issued a yellow warning for rain for parts of Tayside effective from noon until 11pm on Wednesday, and another one for wind from noon on Wednesday until 3am on Thursday. That moves over England during Thursday morning rush hour. "Even away from these areas, we're expecting a very windy start of the day". With that, there will be some heavy bursts of rain.

NASA spacecraft lands on Mars
But as expected, the dust kicked up during the landing obscured the first picture InSight sent back, which was heavily flecked. It's risky business to descend through the Martian atmosphere and land, even for the US , the only country to pull it off.

Met √Čireann says Storm Diana is set to bring "very severe weather" to Ireland with Orange weather warnings likely.

Roads and bridges could also be closed as a precaution.

Diana is not on the list of the Met Office's official storm names for this winter, and originated further south.

"Rain and the strongest winds will gradually retreat to the North East".

The worst of Storm Diana is expected to have passed through by Wednesday evening, although heavy showers and winds are likely to persist into Thursday.
