What's open and closed on Christmas and Boxing Day in Ottawa

As families gather around the Christmas tree next week, various government and county offices will be empty for the holiday.

Early homebound service will be provided on Monday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 31 to allow commuters to reach home earlier before Christmas Day and New Year's Day, respectively.

Last year, Christmas Eve fell on a Sunday, so government employees did not get an extra day off.

County offices, CLOSED Monday and Tuesday. Christmas Day is Tuesday, Dec. 25, which is a federal holiday.

The Moose Recreation Centre and the Hockey Hounds Arena will both be open on Christmas Eve, but will be closed from Christmas Day to January 1. Royal City Brewing will also open at 10 a.m. on both days.

First United Bank will be closed on Christmas Day.

Dixon's Distilled Spirits on Elmira Road will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. LCBO and Beer Stores will be closed December 25 and 26.

They will remain closed for Christmas and Boxing Day. The drop-off centers will be open on December 24.

The Boots pharmacy in Talisman Square will be open as usual on Christmas Eve; closed on Christmas Day; open 10am to 4pm on Boxing Day, open as usual on New Year's Eve and open 10am to 4pm on New Year's Day.
