Golden State Warriors don't match Patrick McCaw's Cleveland Cavaliers offer, sources say

The deal is non-guaranteed, which means Cleveland doesn't have to make a decision on keeping McCaw on its roster at a pro-rated $3 million for the rest of the season until January 7.

A person familiar with the terms told The Associated Press that the Cavs' offer to McCaw was for two years and $6 million.

For McCaw, who is now a restricted free agent with the Warriors, signing the offer sheet with the Cavs allows him to shed the restricted label and become a full unrestricted free agent, per Woj.

If the Warriors choose to match, their luxury tax bill would increase from $50.3 million to $61.6 million, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

McCaw averaged four points and 1.4 rebounds while shooting under 30 percent from three in his two seasons with Golden State.

There is no particular reason Patrick McCaw chose not to return to the Golden State Warriors. Wojnarowski adds that McCaw signing the offer sheet is alluding to the fact that he doesn't wish to remain with the Warriors.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at UNLV, was originally selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (38th pick overall) of the 2016 NBA Draft.
