In "Bird Box", Bullock plays a single mom trying to save her kid's lives after mysterious forces invade Earth and causes people to kill themselves. The movie has also flooded social media with dozens of memes, and inspired a viral social media challenge.

It has since inspired a risky internet trend that people are dubbing the #birdboxchallenge, which involves covering your eyes and attempting to complete daily tasks.

UAE reopens Syrian embassy in Damascus
Saudi-owned al Arabiya television confirmed the UAE Embassy reopening first reported by Syria's Information Ministry. The UAE expressed its wish that peace, security and stability would prevail throughout Syria.

The popular hashtag trend is basically just people blindfolding themselves to perform everyday tasks, ranging from haircuts (bad idea!) to walking the dog (bad idea!).

The challenge has manifested in a few different ways, ranging from parodies to potential child endangerment.

"Bird Box" is directed by Susanne Bier, based on Josh Malerman's 2014 novel of the same name.

A quick social search of #BirdBoxChallenge shows people attempting a variety of things while blindfolded, including cooking, gathering firewood, and packing boxes.

2019 is already off to a great start.
