76ers coach Brett Brown sad about Fultz trade

The 76ers moved on from the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft on Thursday when they traded Markelle Fultz to the Magic.

If Philadelphia were to do that - along with granting Simmons the max extension Brand has already said he'll get this summer - the Sixers would soar far into the luxury tax. "A lot of things need to happen before that, but we are all on board to keep this core together long term".

Fultz did not materialize into the player the Sixers hoped.

The 76ers will receive Jonathon Simmons, a 2020 first-round pick, and a 2019 second-round pick.

"We expected him to be back some time this season", Brand said when asked about the decision to trade Fultz.

Liverpool FC failed to capitalise on Manchester City's loss at Newcastle last week and the Citizens bounced back with a 3-1 win against Arsenal on Sunday.

It's obviously a fairly hefty price tag to give up a first-round pick for a player that hasn't seen the floor a ton during his first two National Basketball Association seasons, However, Fultz showcased massive potential during his lone collegiate season and the Magic are hoping he can realize that success at the National Basketball Association level. The second-round pick is for this year's draft.

"You spend one year in college and we're paid very well for what we do, but there's so much that goes along with that, " admitted Isaac, who noted that his play has taken off of late in part because he stopped "beating up on myself so much".

Fultz, however, was clearly a bust as a No. 1 pick.

This season, Fultz won the starting point guard job until the Sixers acquired Jimmy Butler in a trade.

"I'd be lying if I didn't (say I felt) sad", he told reporters Friday, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. "It was two emotions I had". Sad personally, selfishly, I suppose, that i never really felt like I got a chance to coach him. "I think he's a 20-year-old player with tremendous potential and I feel confident in saying the league looks at him that way, not just us". "I feel for Markelle in the situation that he's been in and I'm glad that he's out of it. And I was pleased for him that he had a new start, a fresh start, another opportunity".
