Reasons Why Apex Legends Might Be The New Fortnite

After just one week of availability, it has already attracted more than 25 million players on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Even sans titans and wall-running, Apex's snappy shooting and smooth sliding made enough players curious to know more about Respawn's earlier work.

USA players were responsible for $320 million of the half a billion total, that took the game 326 days to reach.

Currently, Apex Legends pits twenty teams of3 against one another, as players choose between class-based characters called Legends. But if it doesn't acknowledge the complaints of the community in season eight, Fortnite may slowly lose its crown as the biggest battle royale game.

Those numbers pale in comparison to Apex Legends, of course, but any increase for a two-year-old game is notable.

We can only imagine how the proud parents plan to top themselves at Stormi's second birthday. Carnival rides and a butterfly garden adorned the inside of the party.

Further bolstering the streaming momentum behind the game, there's also the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge, which pits European Union teams against North American squads, featuring 48 of the biggest streamers on Twitch. And "Apex Legends" became the most watched stream on Twitch this past weekend, garnering some 300,000 active viewers, or about three-times that of "Fortnite", according to Twitch data.

We've spent quite a bit of time with Apex Legends at this point, and we've definitely determined that some guns are better than others. There's nothing truly groundbreaking here, but it's the vast amount of little things that Apex does extremely well that makes it stand out from the rest. From being free-to-play to its smooth, varied, and stunning gameplay, it's hard to play anything else right now. Lead producer, Drew McCoy, recently told Euro Gamer that the developer 'plans to allow players to play with their friends on other platforms.' They are also hoping to bring the game to mobile and Nintendo Switch but again, this is not going to happen straight away.

Apex Legends seems like it could be well on the way to breaking some major Twitch records. Will players jump ship again?
