The Voice's Janice Freeman Dead at 33

Janice Freeman, a powerhouse diva and cancer survivor who bravely competed on The Voice USA Season 13, has passed away of an apparent blood clot.

According to TMZ, Freeman was in her Pasadena, Calif. home when she complained to her husband Dion that she couldn't breathe. Freeman was pronounced dead at the local hospital at around 5:30pm.

The singer had a series of health problems including previous battles with lupus, cervical cancer and meningitis.

In a tribute on Instagram, "The Voice" coach Jennifer Hudson praised Freeman's talent and called her an "inspiration". She was a part of Team Miley and made it all the way to the top 11.

She and Miley remained close following the end of her run on The Voice. Around the same time, Miley also rekindled her relationship with the Australian actor, Liam Hemsworth, whom she eventually married this past year in 2018.

Freeman was eliminated after falling into the Bottom Two and not receiving enough Instant Save votes to stay.

After the news of Freeman's passing broke, Cyrus shared a picture of a rainbow on Instagram, saying "Thank you @janicefreeman ... for everything".

"Rise up! I don't care what you've been diagnosed with." she wrote in December underneath her performance of an Andra Day song.

Freeman is survived by her husband and daughter.

That night, a stunned Cyrus told her through tears, "I truly believe that if anybody deserves to stick around in this competition, it is you. And may God rest her too-young soul", MSNBC host Joy Reid tweeted.

"She felt very weak the next morning, and my clients were very concerned and suggested she check into an ER before getting back on a plane, but Janice chose to fly home to L.A.", the rep continued".
