House panel approves subpoena for Mueller report

House panel approves subpoena for Mueller report

Barr has pledged to release a version of the report at the end of the month, but he argues that significant portions of it need to be redacted. The dead-enders at MSNBC had no intention of giving up after the Barr letter.

Barr also declared that while Mueller himself reached no conclusion on the issue of whether Trump criminally obstructed the Russian Federation investigation, his own review found there was not enough evidence to support obstruction allegations.

In another letter last week, Barr said he was consulting with Mueller over how much of Mueller's full report can be released, and that he expected a redacted version of the report would be released "by mid-April". "That's my view. It's a game-changer", Gene Rossi, a former Department of Justice prosecutor, said. They decided the evidence wasn't sufficient for such a charge.

Mueller's team is comprised of 19 lawyers, about 40 Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and other personnel, and the Times notes it is unclear how prevalent the frustration is among the team.

Mueller's team is specifically anxious that Barr's letter shaped public opinion.

At least one Democratic lawmaker is openly suggesting that U.S. Attorney General William Barr is in danger of tarnishing an otherwise respected legal legacy by committing some obstruction of justice of his own.

Nadler compared Mueller's report to the release of the Ken Starr report into President Bill Clinton, holding up boxes of information produced by Starr along with "some of the grand jury material" from the Nixon impeachment process. A special counsel source told the Post the summaries were written "so that the front matter from each section could have been released immediately-or very quickly..."

"There was immediate displeasure from the team when they saw how the attorney general had characterized their work instead", according one US official briefed on the matter.

HISTORY MADE: Lori Lightfoot elected mayor of Chicago
Lightfoot, who is married to her wife and has one daughter, is now the city's first openly gay mayor. Chicago has made history by electing Lori Lightfoot-an African-American lesbian-as its mayor.

"The big question is, do we get the entire report and the documentation?" "It was done in a way that minimum redactions, if any, would have been necessary, and the work would have spoken for itself". I still think this is correct.

"The Special Counsel's report is almost 400 pages long ... and sets forth the Special Counsel's findings, his analysis, and the reasons for his conclusions", he said last week. That's substantially longer than I had guessed.

The demonstrations, organized under the banner "Nobody Is Above the Law", came as the House Judiciary Committee prepared to subpoena the report and supporting information if Barr did not voluntarily release the documents. Again, that justifies the delay.

Barr released his summary of Mueller's findings on March 24.

Some investigators are also concerned that Barr's review of the report has already shaped the public's perception of the probe before the full report has been released.

Trump and the White House have hailed the conclusions as a victory for the president, who has denied conspiring with Russians or obstructing justice.

They are among 81 people, agencies and entities the panel has sought documents from as part of its obstruction and corruption investigation into Trump and his associates. "But I am still hoping and praying that our now-chairman's once great desire to protect privacy rights and to try to hold back the bounds of what Orwell described as happening now ... it's time to go back and clean up the mess that's been made over years of abuse".
