U.S. president Donald Trump calls Tiger Woods to honour golf legend

Mr. Trump, an avid golf enthusiast, wrote in a tweet.

Woods will be the fourth sportsman to receive the award during Trump's presidency, following Babe Ruth, Roger Staubach and Alan Page. Mr. Trump has previously bestowed the honor upon Sen.

Woods ended a decade-long wait for a major victory as he finished on 13 under par at Augusta to claim his fifth Masters gong - having also won the famous tournament in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005.

'What was he thinking?': Tiger Woods in insane moment with security guard
It's the first time three players have shot 64 or better in a single round of the Masters. The tournament record is 63. Webb Simpson was seven-under through 15 holes to sit one back of Finau alongside Xander Schauffele, Scott and Koepka.

Woods, 43, completed one of the most unlikely comebacks in the history of sports with his victory at Augusta National over the weekend.

The win yesterday is already being considered one of the greatest comeback stories in sports ever as Woods career was rumored to be over just two years ago thanks to nagging knee and back injuries. It's inspirational to people all around the world, and Tiger fans everywhere celebrated as he donned the green jacket.

Trump is an especially close watcher of the game, being the owner of Trump-brand golf courses and something of a student of the game himself - although there have been multiple reports, including from established golfers, that he cheats when competing. In February, he played with Woods and Jack Nicklaus at his course in Woods' hometown of Jupiter, Florida, tweeting a photo of the threesome on the tee box.
